Morning! Several months ago I put up a page on our website entitled "Alumni Association." The idea was simply for us to organize
our group to support ongoing efforts that we deem important. With that in mind, I would like to begin our discussion on the
"2006 Altgeld Gardens Reunion." I have be struggling with this idea so that we may possibly be able to do some things in the
future. We have well over 400 active members of our website now, even more people stop by and check in. What would it take
to get a carnival full of rides and fun for all... to stop by for the weekend on August 18th,19th and 20th in 2006? Or how
about workshops designed to give back knowledge and information to whomever decides that they are interested? I am suggesting

want the Altgeld family to be in prayer for the family of Pearl Brandon. She was the mother of the Austins- Geraldine, Wilma,
Audrey, Anthony,Jerry, Lester, Donald, Barbara, Timothy & Dwayne. The services will be held Thursday, Sept. 15 at Evangelistic
Crusaders COGIC located at 9046 Cottage Grove. The wake is at 10:00-11:00 and the homegoing service from 11:00 - 12:00. The
Austins moved to AG in 1952 and she still lived there until her death. Her family is rejoicing for they know she is no longer
suffering and in a better place according to Anthony. God is good and Anthony called my home today by accident looking for
a company who could do slides for a funeral. I recognized the voice for we had just talked at the picnic and I looked at the
caller id, called back and it was him. He informed me of his mothers passing. There are no accidents in the Lord. Keep praying
for them and all our bereved. If any of you know the Knight family from Progressive, Rev. Knights wife, Carrie passed. They
were not from AG but if you ever went to Progressive, then you know Rev. Knight. Her service will be Saturday Sept. 17 from

Alumni, While watching the events unfold on TV for the past couple of weeks, I realized that some former Altgeld Alumni had
relocated to New Orleans years ago. Makeyah (Marsha) Daurham(1), Pearl Eckles(1), Alfonse & Bernice Austin(2), Diane &
Brenda Brumfield (8), Michael Harper (2)and the son of LaTonia Cage(12) . Ironically, Makeyah relocated back to Chicago the
week before the storm; Tonia's son is living with his dad and Tone has reported that they are ok, the Brumfields had to relocate
but had plenty of relatives in Northern Louisiana so they are ok; I’m still checking on the Austins, but Michael Harper
lost everything. The Red Cross relocated him to a hotel in Lake Charles La,. As of today, he has used all of his credits with
them and will have to leave. He has found employment and will begin to work again at a Lake Charles Casino on Thursday. He
has no money and no clothes. His mother still resides in Altgeld. I’m reaching out to Altgeld to help him. If you want
to help let me know. His sizes are 31/32 pants; 15/16 button down shirt; Large-T Shirt, medium underwear. I'm trying to work
out how to get the things to him. Please pass this on. Peace and God Bless.

in the back of the Gardens was fun. Nobody really knew you were there unless you ventured out into the Gardens. I ventured
out. Venturing out in the Gardens taught me a lot. We didn't have much but I learned there were a lot of people in the same
boat. To pass time we played softball, hill dill, hide and go seek, red rover, red light green light, and catch the girl kiss

I guess I'll add my comments, but before I do let me say in love to Shawny & Raymond, there were a lot of people in the
park, more this year than last. During the early afternoon most people still go to worship, but they show up when church is
out. I also noticed that a lot of people were on the outskirts utilizing the space across the street and by the woods. Now
with that being said and don't get mad, I had a gooood time. It was good to see all my old classmates, Leola Black, Roberta
Balenton, Arnell Winfrey, Pat Strange, Larry Pugh, Orzella Wells & family, Carolyn Richardson, Chiquita Nuckolls &
Irene Rainey(puddin), & Elmos all class of 70. Geneal I'm sorry I missed you. There was so much love and we had our usual
neighbors, Cleora Benton & family, the Bounds, the Bakers and the Wells family. It was good to see Anthony Austin who
said this was his first picnic, Babbette Upton, Rev. Preston Winfrey & wife, Velda Everett, the Purvis', Louvenia Boles,the
Lewis', Mrs. Womack, the Muldrows, Lynn Washington aka the three finger boy and more that I could name but I will save some
space for others. Hats off to the class of 73/74 who decorated a tree in Carver colors and promoted their cruise for next
year.(go Jocelyn) And to the cutest couple, Val & Steve Black, I really enjoyed you and Val get that leg well soon. Oh

Many of my brothers are still taking care of themselves, which is a blessing. The wonderful part was I saw their children.
God has truly been good to us. I was looking at my yearbook and the memories are wonderful. Phillip Jordan new name is baby
face. I talked with the Ms Solamon in Blk 8, Mary Hopkins, My mother and grandmother. Their words of wisdom will stay with
me even into eternity. I am still processing the whole event. ****Just a note I heard many people say this will be the last
year for the picnic at the park? If so, this need to acted upon now. If not let's not spread rumors.***** Be Encourage, God

despite the somewhat emptiness/lack of people out in the park during the day. I DID notice, however, that the later it got,
the more people showed up. I even managed to hang out there until almost 2 a.m., which for me these days is like REALLY late!!
:-) What I especially love about this weekend is that just when you think you'll see the same folks over and over every year,
you're always surprised by seeing somebody 'new' whom you haven't seen in ages!! That's a GOOD thing... I'm shoutin' out to
all my peeps that I ran into and hung out with during the weekend and I want to say that I love all of you to death!!!!! (Y'all

am sorry to announce the passing of Mrs. Bailey the mother of Elaine, Lorraine, Ramela, Mary, Teresa & Perez & I can't
remember the oldest brothers name and there may be more siblings, I'm not sure. Her services are scheduled for Monday, Aug.
22 at Progressive M.B. Church on 127th State where her son Perez is a deacon. Wake, 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. and the service will
begin at 11:00. Our condolences go out to the family. Mrs. Bailey was a pillar in Altgeld and she was the first adult I remember
seeing ride a three wheel bike. Keep her family in your prayers.

just dawn on me that we are not taking full advantage of the bond and connection we have through our website. Recently, we
all learned that the annual banquet has been cancelled. Although I have no insights into the reason why, I have a strong sense
that it has more to do with us. Yes! You and I. I beleive that because I, we, us...never contributed to organizing the affair.
Well AG/Carver Alumni, now is the time for us to contribute! I have started a page entitled "Alumni Association." Go over,
sign up, and let's do something. You all are a part of my family, I am a part of yours. Let us not put the total burden of
organizing our annual homecomings solely on one or two people. We are large enough to do anything we desire. At last count,
we have approximately 325 members of this web communicaty. Why then would we not contribute to our own HOMECOMING? We we ask
so much of a few, typically, they get tired. And when they get tired, we are faced with all that we contributed - NOTHING!
We have radio personalities, reporters, actors, lawyers, professionals from all walks of life...yet we can't organize a HOMECOMING?!
I think not! I think that we can do anything that we put our collective minds to. I see a day when we have amusement park

I attended Denise Bibbs's homegoing. For those of you who don't know her, she lived in block 7. If you still don't know, maybe
you know her son's Andre & Albert(Pudda). I am pretty sure that alot of people know Andre and Pudda. They were the two
brother who was friends with everyone. I knew Denise, but not as well as other may have, but I can only imagine how great
she was because of how her son's were then and are now. I can remember Alicia and I going over to there house(next door) to
play the game while Denise was at work. I never saw her again after they moved from the Gardens when I was younger, but she

block 7. From me on down and around the block. Me, Nick & Bobby, Dawn & Ladybug, Pudda & Andre, Alicia & Angel,
