"My name is Carter Gilmer and I was a member of the 1963 State Championship team and the 1962 team that came in second.  I was a  life time resident of Altgeld Gardens, born in 1945 in Altgeld in Block 4 at 13148 S. Corliss.  The only nursery school I went to was in or adjacent to the Children's Building, the only elementary school was Carver Elementary (rotating from the A to B to C to D to F buildings) back then.  I finally graduated in 1963 from Carver HS.
My best friends were:
          1.  Gerry Jones--member of 1963 team and now passed as all know
          2.  Leslie Patmon (Dr. Patmon)--member of 1963 team and now  passed
          3.  Larry Gipson--block 5, now in Cleveland, OH
          4.  Harold Dade--block 4, member of 1962 team
My family beginnings and connections:
